The integrated OPTIRAS oil spill detection system, through specialized innovative software and high-tech systems, has the ability to detect oil products on the sea surface 24 hours a day providing real-time information.

The data generated concern the location, the estimation of the quantity of oil products and the creation of updates and reports. For the completeness and accuracy of the data, the local geographical factors and the peculiarities of the surveillance area are taken into account.

The OPTIRAS oil spill detection system is certified by the National Technical University of Athens and is being further developed under the auspices of the Ministry of Shipping and Maritime Affairs.
